MAE - Mobile Audio Engine
Mobile devices are probably the fastest growing market segment in the last decade. For all these devices, one most critical and indispensible component is audio. With the explosive growth of mobile devices (e.g., there are nearly 3 billion mobile phone users worldwide,) the creation of state-of-the-art digital audio technologies for ever-escalating demand of audio features and performance, especially for small devices under mobile environment, is sure to have very wide applications for a huge market.
MAE comprises a suite of digital audio processing technologies/library functions specially designed to drive mobile devices. These devices include smartphone, mobile phone, PDA, game pad, portable DVD player, MP3 player, mobile TV, laptop PC, Bluetooth headset, digital camcoder, HD radio, automobile audio, interactive toy, and educational/religious devices.
As an illustration of MAE application, a smartphone chip ported with MAE functions allows:
- Using Speaker Verification for secure access of the device or its certain functions; Voice Command to operate the device under eyes-hands-busy conditions; and ClearTalk Voice Enhancement to substantially suppress background noise for much clearer phone conversation.
- Using RichSound Audio Enhancement for MP3 music playback with immersive, wide-field sound perception; SurroundSound Audio Enhancement for home theater-like sound effect with only a headset; and Dynamic Audio Rendering and Voice Conversion & Sound Effect for creating exciting, dynamic 3-D audio scene for game plays.
- Using Digital Voice Coder to record voice memo or phone conversation; and Digital Audio Coder to record karaoke singing or musical events.
- Using Music Beat Tracking to activate light (LED), sound bite or image in-synch with music (internal or external to the mobile device) for interactive decor or entertainment.
Note that the mobile device can run individual function at one time, or run several functions simultaneously, depending on the computation power and memory capacity of the device.
MAE is offered with various package options for licensing to mobile device chipmakers, hardware product manufacturers and application software developers. The various MAE package options provide multiple technologies with seamless integration at discount prices.
With its in-depth knowledge of the underlining theories and implementation details for all MAE proprietary technologies, CYBIT has the unique customization expertise to tailor these technologies to match each customer's specific application needs. CYBIT will continue to build MAE with new and better technologies useful for mobile devices. For details of current MAE functions, please see MAE Technical Note below.

for converting ordinary (plain) mono or stereo audio into rich, immersive sound with significantly wider perceived sound field.
SurroundSound Audio Enhancement: Processing 5.1 audio signal to simulate home theater-like surround sound while playing out with only a headset or two speakers.
Dynamic Audio Rendering:
for rendering dynamic audio scene by placing stationary component sound segments in any time sequence at any position in the 3D space.
Voice Conversion & Sound Effect:
for creating various sound effect including voice changing, tempo (playback speed) control, pitch (key) shift, reverberation/echo, equalization and 3D spatial audio.
Mobile Device - I/P Functions
ClearTalk Voice Enhancement:
for enhancing voice clarity for mobile device communication using only one microphone under acoustically noisy environments.
Music Beat Tracking:
for beat-synchronous activation of sound bite, light (LED) and image for music interactive mobile devices.
Voice Command:
for language-independent hands-free operation of mobile devices.
Speaker Verification:
for language-independent biometric secure access of mobile devices.
Mobile Device - Storage Functions
